WINDOW COVERING SAFETY

We all know that a home can pose many hazards to young children, but did you know that your window treatments could be one of them?

In fact, statistics reveal that multiple children die each year from strangulation injuries involving window shade cords. These are deaths that could have been prevented with child safe window treatments and preventative safety measures.

Your local Comfortex BlindCrafter is dedicated to promoting child safety, particularly as it applies to window and window coverings. Review the safety tips and product information below and then join our customer club to request your FREE Guide to Window Covering Safety.

Comfortex BlindCrafter Child Friendly Safety Tips

  • Choose child-safe window treatments like the ones listed here
  • Make existing shades and blinds more child safe with the addition of cord cleats and cord tensioners
  • Always keep windows closed and locked when small children are in the room
  • Do not place cribs or other furniture near windows
  • Never allow anything to dangel in a crib or bed
  • Never allow long window covering pull cords to "puddle" on the floor next to the window

Make sure new window treatments have the highest quality
child safety devices:

                      * Cord-free Hardware Systems
                      *
Cord Cleats
                      * Cord Tensioners
                      * Control Wands

To use a cord cleat, install the device high and out of the reach of small children and then wind excess cord around it. This prevents children from becoming entangled in the dangling cord. For window treatments with a cord loop, install a cord tensioner to keep cords taught and prevent them from twisting and tangling.
